My name is Marco Santana and I’m proud to be from the Valley and running to serve as your Los Angeles City Council Member.

The Valley is my home – it always has been. It’s where I grew up with my three siblings and my parents who emigrated from Mexico. It’s where I played little league as a kid, went to high school, graduated from college, and today focus my work on providing solutions that house the unhoused and which thereby makes our communities and neighborhoods safer. The Valley is where my dad taught me the importance of hard work and, through union meetings with Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36, the need to stand united with other workers and coalitions for what is fair. And it’s where I served on behalf of Congressman Tony Cardenas and and Senator Bob Hertzberg to ensure that constituents were heard, their concerns addressed, and their health and safety made a priority.

The Valley is where I also have the privilege to give back by being a Board Member of the Mid-Valley YMCA and ICON CDC which empowers local small businesses by providing them the resources and trainings needed to succeed. It’s also where I’ve taken on leadership positions within the democratic process by serving as Controller of the Democratic Party San Fernando Valley and Vice President of the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats. And it’s where I have the incredible opportunity to work with LA Family Housing that, in 2021 alone, successfully connected over 12,000 Angelenos with the housing and services needed to end homelessness in their lives for good.

Yet, as much as the Valley offers all of us, we know firsthand the challenges, concerns and fears facing our Valley families and communities. I’m running to serve as your City Council Member because we need proven, local leadership in City Hall that will once and for all place people before politics. With your support I’ll put my knowledge and experience to work for all of us, to tackle the pressing issues before us, and to help unite our city for the brighter future we all deserve.
